Jennifer Jones

Jennifer Jones serves as the Corporate Operations Manager at FLATS®, overseeing company-wide operational initiatives and leading cross-functional processes that drive property performance and organizational efficiency. She brings extensive experience in property operations and financial oversight, with a specialized focus on building scalable systems and strengthening operational controls across the portfolio. Jennifer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Western Michigan University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, applying evidence-based workplace practices to enhance organizational effectiveness and execution.

Dan Volz

Dan oversees the overall operational and financial performance of our Downtown portfolio. Dan is also the chair of the Operations and Financial Committees. He previously worked for Greystar as a Regional Property Manager for their Owned Asset value add and new development portfolio in the Midwest. Additionally, Dan has served 10 years in the Army as a Healthcare Specialist (Medic). In his spare time Dan volunteers through the National MS Society, and have been the show manager for MS Sucks concert for the last 3 years, partnered with the Accelerated Cure Project.

Gina Fortune-Harmon

Gina will be overseeing the operations of our national portfolio and management of residential properties, responsible for driving operational excellence across all FLATS communities nationwide. Having been active in the industry for 40 years, Gina spent the last 8 years as the Vice President with The Habitat Company, leading the operations and management of their market-rate business line. Gina holds multiple industry credentials—including Certified Property Manager (CPM®), Accredited Residential Manager (ARM®), and licensed managing broker in both Illinois and Minnesota. Gina is currently the President of the Chicagoland Apartment Association, where she has been an executive member of the board for the last 8 years.

Katie Meier

Katie oversees marketing for FLATS®, leading brand and marketing strategy across its national portfolio. She brings over two decades of multifamily experience, most recently leading an in-house creative team responsible for the corporate brand, multiple nest brands and portfolio-wide marketing at a publicly traded REIT. Previously, she spent 17 years at a large national REIT, shaping marketing for new developments, military housing, and a large nationwide portfolio of stabilized communities.

Nick Pinto

Nick Pinto is the Regional Property Manager, responsible for overseeing property operations and finances in the Chicago FLATS residential portfolio. Nick collaborates closely with onsite management, construction, and limited partners to ensure property stability and achievement. With over 10 years of multifamily housing industry experience, Nick has spent 7 years advancing with the FLATS team. Nick obtained a BA in Advertising & Public Relations from DePaul University and also serves as a commissioner in the Uptown SSA Organization.

About Chicago’s Gold Coast

The Gold Coast neighborhood is a go-to for residents and tourists alike. This district that boasts views of Lake Michigan was founded shortly after the Chicago Fire in the late 1800s by some of the city’s most influential residents. These socialites converted the swampy land into modern-day Lake Shore Drive and built impressive mansions, spanning entire tree-lined city blocks. Some of Chicago’s most famous pieces of architecture would find their home in this area in the years to follow, including the old Chicago Water Tower on The Magnificent Mile, homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and even the former Playboy Mansion.

Nowadays, the picturesque tree-lined streets with awe-worthy architecture and a treasure trove of shops draw people far and wide. The Gold Coast is a luxurious neighborhood filled with high-end boutiques, invigorating nightlife, and gourmet restaurants. This Near North Side community starts just South of Lincoln Park. It is roughly bound by North Ave (North), N Lake Shore Drive (East), Oak St (South), and N Clark St (West).

What to Do in Gold Coast

Whether you’re in the mood for some relaxation, retail therapy, or an adventure, the Gold Coast is the place to go. This Chicago neighborhood is a book lover’s haven with an array of bookshops and cozy coffee shops in the area, as well as the historic Newberry Library. Just outside of the library, Washington Square is the perfect place to delve into your latest read under a shady tree while enjoying a bit of fresh air. It is also home to the iconic Victorian Fountain, which is bursting with color in the summer months thanks to its stunning landscaping. Other options for a bit of relaxation are the many spas in the area, such as the Four Seasons Hotel on E Delaware Pl. Other options include The Waldorf Astoria Spa and Pause Massage. Longing for a day of shopping after some relaxation? The Magnificent Mile awaits with an assortment of high-end shops and boutiques. Plus, lunch will be ready when you are with an array of restaurants in the area.

As day fades to night, the fun doesn’t stop. Rush Street bars are notorious in the Gold Coast, but Division St is also great for bar hopping. If you want to kick back, The Lodge Tavern is a local watering hole that offers games, a jukebox, and TVs. Prefer something more upbeat? Try She-nannigans just across W Division St—a sports bar by day and a dance club by night! Head further toward E Division St and you’ll stumble across other popular venues, like Primary Nightclub and Detention Nightclub.

Transportation

Situated by Old Town just North of The Loop, this neighborhood is only a short commute away from downtown Chicago. Lakeshore Drive provides a direct route for drivers, while the CTA Red Line and multiple bus lines also offer a direct route to the city’s core.

Gold Coast Chicago Apartment Buildings: Studio, 1 BR, 2 BR

In the late 1980s, Gold Coast was America’s second most affluent neighborhood, second to only Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The high desire of this location led to many newer developments in the years to follow, such as the N Astor St condominiums as well as many of the high-rise, luxury apartments in the Chicago, Il 60610 area code—the section that borders Lake Michigan. These include 1350 North Lake Shore Drive. Move a bit further from the coastline and you will still find luxury like the comfortably carpeted 65 East Scott St. However, Gold Coast apartments aren’t all new. Much of this neighborhood’s historical value has been preserved thanks to the apartment buildings that have been revamped and repurposed.

The Bush Temple exemplifies this concept by intertwining luxury living while conserving Chicago’s history. This eye-catching French Revival building that once held the Bush & Gerts Piano Company was given new life in 2017 with renovations to create 101 units, a fitness center, and a 6th floor roof lounge that includes a pool. Inside, the lobby is equally as luxurious and alluring with a spacious layout that offers co-working spaces, plush seating, and a health food shop.

FLATS® Apartments in The Gold Coast

The Bush Temple is comprised of two residences that unite as one FLATS community. The historic French Renaissance Revival building on Chicago Avenue was renovated in 2017 and featured 101 apartments, a fitness center with complimentary classes for residents, and a 6th floor roof lounge. The Bush Temple lobby is open to the public with workspaces, cozy seating, and interiors that are a nod to the historic building’s usage as the headquarters of the Bush & Gerts Piano Company. Ground-level retail is currently occupied by Foxtrot Market and Ingrained, a health food shop. The lobby serves as the bridge between historic and contemporary, linking to a brand-new 16-story tower with 129 apartments and roof terrace, lounge, and pool with breathtaking views.
