ABOUT MALCOLM, FITNESS TRAINER AT FLATS GYMS

While I was employed at Foxtrot I frequented the Bush Temple’s gym. It wasn’t long before I became acquainted with Coach Marlon and Big Jo with LTC Living. One day during conversation I was asked, “Hey, we see you in the gym everyday. Have you ever considered being a trainer?”. They became like my big brothers, helped me get certified, and taught me everything I know. The rest is history.

I was raised by two very health conscious parents. Legend has it that one of my parents first dates was to a health food store. Growing up I’ve always had gym memberships and stayed active. This translated into my adult life.

WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF WORK?

When I’m not working, I’m still working. I love business and art. You can usually find me somewhere in-between the two. I have a keen ear for music, I enjoy curating and creating.

WHAT SKILL DO YOU WISH YOU COULD LEARN? OR, WHAT SKILL ARE YOU ACTIVELY LEARNING?

I wish I could sing. I’m actively learning more graphic design skills.

HOW DO YOU DEFINE YOUR STYLE?

I’m a stiff advocate for individuality & trendsetting. Recently I ran into a childhood bully who told me, “We used to give you and your bro hell back in the day for your clothes, but EVERYONE dresses like y’all now.”

WHAT'S YOUR IDEAL ROAD TRIP?

My ideal road trip is not too lengthy, but still a good distance. There’s good company, good music, and plenty of scenery.

WHAT MOVIE PROP DO YOU WISH YOU OWNED?

I wish I owned a clapperboard, life seems like a movie sometimes...

I JAM OUT TO ...

Hip Hop, Rock, Jazz, Reggae, House Music, etc. Anything that catches my ear; you’d be surprised.

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT...

Love

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN CHICAGO?

My favorite thing about living in Chicago is that it’s a great metric for the rest of the country. Politically, artistically, economically, etc. We don’t miss anything.
