Food and Beverage Specialist

What do you do for a living?

I just graduated from the Hospitality Management School and was doing my internship at the Peninsula Hotels as a food and beverage specialist. Looking for other opportunities in the industry right now.

Do you have hobbies or special talents?

I love photography, wine (I'm currently studying for the Sommelier exam), fashion, and cooking.

What's your morning routine?

Wake up, Call my mom, then turn on Big Little Lies playlist.

If I am not at home, you can find me ...

At Pleasant House. The food and coffee are delicious!

Do you own an alarm clock or use the clock on your phone?

I am very sensitive to any noise in the morning so I am using Iphone alarm where the music starts very slowly with the birds singing.

How do you take your coffee?

French Press with sugar or latte with coconut milk, My Cheat coffee: Marshmallow latte at Big Shoulders

Are you an Introvert or Extrovert?

I am in between. Being Eastern European, I am not used to be very talkative with strangers or share personal things such my occupation or my goals with others. We are very private and come across as mean, but it's just my face haha. Working in Hospitality definitely helped me, but also after talking and smiling all day long, I just wanted to be alone after work or at least be with one friend. I love spending time with small groups of people. If it is a big party of people I get lost.

If I am not at home, you can find me ...

Working at Peninsula, drinking wine at the Webster wine bar, or dancing in Arbella on the weekend

If you had a band, what would the name be? What genre?

I would be electronic jazz with the name Amely.

What's your favorite Chicago festival?

Pitchfork and Wine Fest.

Do you regularly check the weather or do you wing it?

I check it every hour, it does not help.

Are you super organized or do you find comfort in chaos?

I am both. I am very organized with my plans, my shoes, jewelry, and bags; everything else is a mess, my desktop has a thousand of files and tabs always open. My apartment gets messy, but I clean it every day like a daily routine.

Do you read the book first or wait for the movie to come out?

Book first if its a classic literature. However, if the movie is that good and complicated, it can make me read a book. A good example would be Godfather. Loved Al Pacino so much that started reading Mario Puzo only after.

Why Chicago?

I love Midwest Hospitality, love our Art Institute and food scene.

Describe your perfect date.

Hawaiian Pizza (yes, I love pineapples on my pizza) and Woody Allen Movies

Do you have a four-legged roommate? Tell us about him/her.

I have a French bulldog Lucas. He's back home in Ukraine. I am the only child and Lucas is my brother. He is smarter than many many humans.

What are your favorite art pieces in your apartment?

I have a Frida Kahlo Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird. It is my favorite painting of hers and my mother painted a copy for me. Frida Kahlo was suffering most of her life after the accident and this painting reflects her pain, each animal symbolizes her feeling. She reminds me to be strong no matter what life brings you.
