HERITAGE BICYCLES MISSION

Heritage Bicycles commitment is first and foremost to customer satisfaction, but we also emphasize eco-friendly transportation and local manufacturing. We are proud to be the first completely Chicago-made bike since Schwinn production left the city in the ’70s. Heritage is a mash-up of two concepts and cultures that really go hand in hand: bikes and coffee. If you’ve never thought to pair the two, don’t worry, we're here making sense of it.

What services do you provide to the public?

Pretty simple. Bikes and coffee. Anything from a hand crafted bike to a hand crafted late, Heritage Bicycles' has got your covered.

How does your business get involved in your community?

We try to stay very active in the community both as a member and a business. We are constantly collaborating with other small businesses in the area, while expanding upon the brand as well as the services to accommodate the common good of the community. The community is the lifeblood of our business, so anything to help them, helps us.

Unique

What makes your business stand out from the others?

We’ve figured out a way to make coffee and bikes relevant. Our bikes are nice and our coffee is tasty. Together, pretty lethal combo.

Is there anything you offer that no one else does?

Coffee and bikes. We’ve seen an upward trend in this market, but we’d like to think we were the pioneers in the Chicago area.

How We Found Eachother

What makes a good partnership with your collaborators?

There’s nothing better than a solid collaboration. A well branded and well run business that understands the value of your company is key to a successful partnership. We seek partnerships who can bring value add to our product which we’ve spent so long curating and polishing. We are still trying to learn about ourselves, but with multiple collaborations, made up of businesses in all different kinds, challenges us to constantly evolve our brand. There is a creative drive and spirit behind collaborations — two things we love and enjoy.

Did you hear about FLATS before collaborating with them?

FLATS® found our original Heritage Bicycles and Coffee location in Lincoln Park simply by driving by. We must have a pretty bad-ass store front for it to catch their eye. They’re sticklers when it comes to good design.

Why did you think FLATS® was a good partnership?

It was a no-brainer. We understood them and they understood us. We were relatively new at the time, so to collaborate with a company, who’s target market was our target market was a special opportunity. We both found each other at a time when each of us were seeking traction in the market. It was a match made in heaven.

Past/Present/Future

What made the last collaboration event/organization with FLATS successful?

Despite having a Heritage Outpost at The Lawrence House, we’ve partnered up with FLATS® to build an exclusive, limited edition, FLATS® Cruiser / Heritage Bicycle. If residents sign a two-year lease, they receive a free custom bicycle.
